Marion County Property Appraiser Villie M. Smith, was first elected to  this constitutional office in 1996 and reelected in 2000, 2004 and again in 2008.

Prior to his election as Property Appraiser, Smith was the Assistant Property Appraiser from 1981 - 1996, Deputy from 1975-1980. He has over 30 years of experience in mass appraisal and assessment administration.

Smith is a graduate of Santa Fe College and attended the University of Florida. He is a sixth-generation Marion County resident. His father was the Property Appraiser of Alachua County from 1963-1980.
